Success Stories

Marianne and Jason
Marianne and Jason, her 14 year old son, were evicted from their apartment after Marianne lost her job and was unable to pay rent. After 3 months of camping around the city, they moved into the Shelter.
While living in the Shelter Marianne attended a computer training course at a local credit card company while Jason was busy in school and playing basketball with other teens from the shelter. Upon completion of the computer course, Marianne was anxious to find housing and a job. She worked hard with a case manager to find a home for them.
Last year they moved into a Transitional Housing unit with supportive services from The Road Home. For the first time in four years, she is working full time, has an apartment of her own, and is able to support her son. She is very proud of herself. Jason is looking forward to participating in a few different camps this summer. He is extremely excited about basketball camp at the U of U.
