There are a variety of ways to help The Road Home and the people we serve during the holiday season!
We appreciate your passion for volunteering at The Road Home. We do not offer volunteer opportunities on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day.
Each December, The Road Home creates a holiday store for families in our shelter and housing programs, Candy Cane Corner. This store gives parents an empowering opportunity to select gifts for their family. We stock the store with new, unwrapped donations from our community. Volunteers are needed throughout December to help sort donations and wrap gifts. Donations of new clothing, toys and household items are needed from early November though December to stock the store. This years Candy Cane Corner store will be located at 200 South 320 West, Salt Lake City. To view our current needs list please click on the link below.
Candy Cane Corner will be open December 1 - December 23, 2013
To sign up online to volunteer at Candy Cane Corner please visit: www.candycanecornerslc.org
Groups of 10 or less welcome
Must be at least 16 years old.
The Road Home's 2014 Holiday Media-a-Thon will be December 18th - 19th, 2014. Local media stations broadcast live from the shelter and encourage listeners to donate in-kind items or make a financial contribution. The donations collected during this lively event helps us provide shelter and supportive services year round.
You can help by volunteering from December 18th - December 24th, by helping us collect and sort donations that come into The Road Home. To volunteer during our Holiday Media-a-Thon, please sign up here.
Large groups welcome.
No age limit for volunteers.
Another great holiday opportunity is to hold a donation drive. With our increasing numbers we are always in need of donations. This is an opportunity that can be done with either a small or large group, on any scale. Gift cards help make the season bright for families and individuals in our housing programs and at our shelter. Gift cards in $5 increments are needed for: grocery stores, gas stations, clothing stores, and restaurants.
