Jacob was a resident of The Road Home for two years. During this time he worked as a part-time custodian at a local university. Jacob hoped to gain full-time status with his job, however due to the instability of shelter life, full time work was a very hard to reach goal. Jacob didn’t give up though, and through working with The Road Home’s Housing Team he was able work toward an apartment of his own.
This time can be trying for anyone, however Jacob’s optimism was contagious. “I finally have hope again. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.” Within a short amount of time Jacob was able to get into an apartment of his own.
This new housing situation gave Jacob the independence and stability he needed in order to manage full-time work. He is now living happily in his new place, working full time, and still maintaining his contagious optimism.
