Michael was evicted from his apartment more than a year ago and has since been living on the streets. He struggled with substance addiction for most of his life but after his eviction and being homeless, Michael decided he needed to change something in his life.
Michael met someone on The Road Home’s Street Engagement Team (SET) while living on the street. The SET member was able to get Michael connected with a case manager at The Road Home. When he met his case manager, Michael expressed he wanted to stay sober. Together, they made a plan that would assist him in receiving treatment, and the opportunity to find and maintain a new apartment.
Michael was so excited to start on this path back into housing and worked tirelessly with his case manager to get the necessary paperwork done to move forward. Michael’s case manager was able to help him obtain an ID, receive food stamps, and help him start the process of applying for Medicaid.
Michael worked hard on his sobriety and continues to work diligently to move into permanent supportive housing. He is happy with his progress and hopeful for the future.
